MINUetTI

Creazione 2018

Time after time

MINUetTI investigates time and its individual and collective perception.
We inhabit a temporality that is neither chronological nor logical. We live in the "now," but also within memory and often in the longing for future actions.
On stage, the collective exists in a time defined by the repetitive cadence of a single minute. How much, and what, can exist within just sixty seconds? An ambitious project, MINUetTI is the result of an expanded vision of contemporary circus: music, song, and word blend into a complex melting pot—a scenic exploration of the layering of different media that we   encounter in our daily lives.

A fast-paced, intelligent, and exhilarating performance, finely written and skillfully acted.
Paolo Bogo
The research focuses on the infinite creative realm where performing arts meet time, and more specifically, the relationship between circus and time. The dilation or contraction of time within circus movements can trigger profound changes in sensation, form, and meaning; actions crafted in minute detail, precise to the millimeter, are dramatically affected by the slightest shift in tempo.
The circus treats time as its accomplice—the wait for the perfect moment is essential. But if we strip that time away, what is left? Perhaps the error itself. In this way, the mistake becomes an accomplice in the show's narrative, transformed into a dramaturgical and playful element within the structure rather than a sign of failure. Thus, the circus finds a way to rebuild itself through its own imperfections.

Time, Circus, Quantity, and Quality

The speed at which time passes has nothing to do with its duration. Duration is a quantitative factor, whereas the speed of its flow is a qualitative element, intrinsic to human nature. Therefore, time exists within an experiential realm rather than an objective one. The minuetti (minuets) are the singular visions of the artists, converging into a creative and alternative circus proposal on the concept of "passing time," questioning what writing remains inscribed upon the body and within the memory of lived experiences.
