BELLO!

una creazione di circo contemporaneo
settembre 2022

No one has power over beauty; beauty is something unsettling that pierces us, that shakes us; beauty does not conform

BELLO! is the new show created and directed by Francesco Sgrò, produced by Cordata F.O.R and Fabbrica C in collaboration with the FLIC Circus School

Bello! is a stage performance that brings together six virtuoso circus artists from different backgrounds and a very agile actor, chosen for their mutual ability to listen to and understand each other. Group dynamics are at the heart of the project.

Open to all forms of cross-pollination, the company builds its poetics on the chorus of acrobatic movement and the spoken word. Bello! is a show about the force of wonder and the power of an alert, ever-searching circus that subordinates aesthetics to ethics, relentlessly seeking new forms of expression.

BEAUTIFULGOODWHITE//UGLYBADBLACK

With Bello, I want to create the conditions for a confrontation between the spectator and their voyeurism. Naturally, the big top is generally perceived as a place of honesty, because the proximity between the actors and the audience enhances reality. But I wonder: doesn't the distance offered by the theater facilitate a detachment from fiction? And to accept it without shame, without understanding the consequences of the curiosity it arouses? In fact, only the theater can provide me with the spatial and structural conditions to manipulate what is seen and what is not.
Essentially, I don't want to be honest with the audience! Rather, I want to hide things, to play mischievously with the audience's expectations. The breathtaking and the sublime—it is through what the black box allows that I intend to recreate them.
